Church Windows In Northeast Pennsylvania

Beautifully illustrated 116 Pages with 40 Color Photos offer a Wealth of Inspiring Historical Stained Glass Windows, many By The Famous Tiffany Studios.

Edited by Richard W Rousseau, S.J.

Book Synopsis:

Beautiful stained glass windows were part of a church building wave in northeastern Pennsylvania during the boom years of coal in the latter part of the 19th and the early part of the 20th centuries. Father Joseph McShane, S.J., president of the University of Scranton, wanted to highlight and preserve this important heritage. To create a warm and welcoming environment in the University of Scranton’s newly completed Brennan Hall, home of the Kania School of Management, he commissioned digital photographs of many of these windows. Large prints were made, mounted in large glass frames and placed on the walls of the five floors of Brennan Hall.

Arrived on the University of Scranton campus some five years ago, construction of the new Brennan Hall, housing the Kania School of Management, was nearing completion. He hit on the idea of filling the new halls many empty core doors with large digital photographs of stained-glass windows from Northeastern Pennsylvania churches. The purpose was to build a collection that would both creative and artistic and religious milieu for the building and reflect the regions important historical heritage.
